Q: Red Sox with the greatest comeback in playoff history? You enjoying these playoffs? (Kate, Boston)
JJ: These playoffs have been pretty fun to watch. I actually went to game 2 of the ALCS and was sitting about 12 rows behind home plate for what turned out to be a home run derby and a great game. The win last night by the Sox was just insane. I actually turned the game off in the 7th inning because I had to get up early for practice and thought Boston’s season was over. When I work up this morning I had a text message saying the Sox had won and I couldn’t believe it. Hopefully, they can pull out a couple wins on the road and then move on to the Phillies. By the way, Manny Ramirez is the greatest hitter I’ve ever seen. Period.
Q: What are the types of shoes you are wearing at the moment? ( Practice, Games, Casual )
JJ: Right now the basketball shoes I’ve been wearing are the Nike Huarache 08. They are very comfortable and give me all the support I need. For casual shoes off the court I like to wear any of the Converse Chuck Taylors done by John Varvatos (he’s my favorite designer right now). For dress shoes, I own a lot of the luxury shoe brands but my favorite is Salvatore Ferragamo.
Q: JJ what were some of the things u did this summer to get in better shape for the upcoming basketball season????
JJ: I get asked this a a lot, and have answered it a lot, so I’ll just quote my June 18th blog where i explained my workouts:
I started working out again the last week of May. By now, I have settled into my summer workout routine. Mondays are basketball work, lifting, and agility work. Tuesdays are Pilates, basketball, and conditioning. Wednesdays are basketball and lifting. Thursdays are basketball, agility, and Pilates. And I finish out the week on Fridays with basketball, lifting, and conditioning. Each workout takes about an hour. Essentially I’m working out three to four hours a day. And obviously, I’m working on a variety of things. I want to get stronger (weight room). I want to get quicker and get my hips stronger for defense (Pilates and hip agility work). I can always use more core strength and flexibility (Pilates). And of course, I’m working on my game trying to improve my ball-handling and scoring off the dribble.

Hey JJ, I have put on a few pounds. I remember that you had a similar experience at Duke. I am wondering what shifts you made in diet and/or workout to lose the weight?
