Q and A with JJ

Q: Any particular reason why you changed your free throw routine in the middle of your rookie season? (LML)

JJ: I didn’t change my free throw routine in the middle of my rookie season. I changed my free throw routine before my rookie season ever
started. While my routine that I used worked in college, I wanted to have a shorter routine. That’s pretty much the only reason I changed
routines from college to the NBA. My new way worked fine – I shot exactly 90% for the season.

Q: Which player from the Orlando Magic have you developed the biggest relationship with? (Daniel)

JJ: I have a good relationship with all the players on the Orlando Magic. We really do have a great group of guys on our team. I’m
good friends with the young guys- Travis Diener and James Augustine. It was easy for us to get along because we had a lot in common (age,
experience, sitting on the bench, etc). In terms of the veterans, Carlos Arroyo and Pat Garrity always look out for me.

Q: Which was a more amazing accomplishment: Becoming Duke’s all Time leading scorer, or getting your jersey retired? (Alaina)

JJ: In terms of my basketball accomplishments at Duke, I am most proud of having my jersey retired in the rafters of Cameron Indoor
Stadium. Breaking the scoring record was never really a dream of mine but I always wanted my jersey to hang with Duke greats such as
Grant Hill, Shane Battier, Johnny Dawkins, etc. However, the accomplishment that brings me the greatest sense of pride is that I graduated on time with a degree in history. Duke is not an easy school and trying to balance basketball and academics was a difficult task.

Q: In a fight to the death, who do you have: Spiderman or Batman? (Angela)

JJ: Haha- good question. In a fight to the death, I would choose Batman over Spiderman. I was always a fan of the Dark Knight growing
up so I have to pick him.
