JJ answers questions from fans

Q: It’s my dream to attend Duke. What do you miss most about being there?

JJ: I would say that if it is your dream to attend Duke University then to work as hard as possible to make that dream come true. If you are on the fence about whether or not to attend Duke I’ll say this- Duke offers an amazing college experience. Besides the academic and athletic side of Duke, some things I miss are Cosmic Cantina burritos, hanging out on the quad, walking by Duke Chapel everyday, and interacting with all the great people (teammates, classmates, professors, and administrators). I had an amazing four years at Duke and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Q: What did you study at Duke?

JJ:My focus at Duke was American history, specifically the Civil War. I took a class on the Civil War during the summer after my sophomore year and I was hooked. The Civil War showcased some of the greatest American generals of all-time, fighting against each other. From Robert E. Lee to Ulysses S. Grant, the “war of northern aggression” (as some like to call it) was not short on talented military leaders. The background of how the conflict started is pretty interesting too. Besides the Civil War, I’m interested in military history as a whole. I just finished reading Shooter, written by a Marine Sniper with dozens of confirmed kills in the 2nd Iraq war.

Q: Would you go back and coach at Duke if the opportunity arose?

JJ: If I was ever offered a job on the Duke coaching staff I would take it in a second. I’d like to be involved in some way with the game of basketball after I’m done playing and coaching at Duke would be great. However, the current coaches are going to be there a while and hopefully I have many more years of playing.

Q: Do you have any pets?

JJ: I don’t have any pets at my home in Florida but we have two dogs at my house in Roanoke, VA.

Q: If you could trade places with anyone in the world for 48 hours who would you choose?

JJ: If I could trade places with anyone for 48 hours, I would trade places with Vince Vaughn. “The guy’s all-time. He’s gonna take Chicago tourism by land, air, and sea.”

Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Orlando?

JJ: My favorite spot in Orlando is Season’s 52 Restaurant. All the items on the menu are really healthy and their food is really fresh. That’s what it is.
