Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to wish everyone out there a very Happy Thanksgiving! It’s a little disappointing that I can’t spend this holiday with my loved ones but I have a job that has weird hours, I guess. For those of you that get to spend today with your family and friends, please know how lucky you are! Every year, my family goes around the table and tells each other what we are thankful for. This year, I’m most thankful for God’s love, mercy, and grace. He has truly blessed me and I have felt His hand in my life over the past 12 months. I’m also very grateful for all of my family, friends, and loved ones. Everyone have a GREAT day!!!

Top Five Thanksgiving foods:

1) Pumpkin pie- apparently not everyone grew up eating pumpkin pie as I learned this week. But it’s by far my favorite pie and no Thanksgiving meal would be complete without it.
2) Sweet potatoes and marshmallows- my older sisters, Alyssa and Catie, usually put this dish together and it’s delicious. Please save me some!
3) Turkey?
4) Mashed potatoes and gravy- lots of carbs on Thanksgiving, I know. But it’s the one day we can all cheat. My dad makes homemade gravy and it’s so dope.
5) Stuffing?

Yes, I’m interested in updates!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas, bro!! Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and that we’re all playing in God’s game every day of our lives.

“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.” 2 Cor. 4:8-9

hey im 17 and am one of your loyal fans. i have been playing basketball my whole life and i think that you could be a very good 2 guard in the league and i am impressed by your improvement on Defense but it looks to me that you are playing to tight. You can shoot lights out and i do not know if it is the system or what but you can shoot purely but it looks like you are not as confident when you shoot and i just don’t see that swagger that you used to have in college. I no that its a huge step from college to the nba and i no that you should be starting or at least play 20+ minutes a night. You are a hard worker but start playing with that swagger again ok i would greatly like to see that!! thanx for the read if u read it!!

Last summer I got to visit Duke. I was able to go on the court and I feel very honored to be able to stand on the floor that you set many records on. My most vivid memory of Cameron Indoor was seeing you #4 jersey hang in the rafters. Good luck buddy!

Happy Holidays

Maggie | on 5/12/08

Oh my gosh, JJ, I come on this website like a billion times a day and I still haven’t commented on this yet! I hope you had an awesome Thanksgiving even though you couldn’t spend it with your family! I feel really bad that you weren’t able to spend Thanksgiving with your family. They shouldn’t have sporting events on holidays like Thanksgiving and especially Christmas. My family used to go around the table and say what we were thankful for but we didn’t do that this year for some reason that I have no idea. I had a good Thanksgiving, but it wouldn’t have been as good as it was if I hadn’t have seen you play that night. I’m thankful for all those things that you are thankful for and I’m also thankful for you :) . My top five favorite Thanksgiving foods: 1. Mash Potatoes, 2. Pumpkin Pie, 3. Stuffing, 4. Turkey maybe 5 maybe cranberry sauce. Well, I hope you had a really great Thanksgiving even though you weren’t with your family. I hope to hear from you soon!! I love you so much,

lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of LOVE,
Maggie

God Bless You!! You are setting a great example for young athletes!!!

Karen | on 30/11/08

Glad to see you are getting some playing time. It is very difficult to be an NBA fan when the best talent is sometimes sitting on the bench, and team basketball is not played. But— I know you have the talent and you have shown a great attitude as well. Keeping you in my prayers. Liked the way you took the charge and had a great pass the other night in the game. Keep trusting in the Lord and working diligently. Hope someday to be able to see you play in person! Mom of a few basketball players and wife of a coach who is a basketball fan.

Great to see you with your 2nd start!! It’s too bad about the injuries on the team but it does provide that “window of opportunity” to shine for a few games without the pressure of 4 people fighting for the 2-spot. You can play like you’ve got nothing to lose instead of everything. If the ball doesn’t fall, just remember that when you make your teammates look good, then you still look good even if it doesn’t show up in the stats. By the way, AWESOME job in the Philly game!! That’s the JJ I know is the norm and love to see!! You don’t have to prove anything in my book…just let it out on the court like that for everyone to enjoy!! Later.

Jenna | on 29/11/08

That’s what I’m most thankful for as well and I got to say that green bean casserole is my favorite Thanksgiving food! Good luck in the game tonight!

jen | on 29/11/08

Good luck JJ. Just heard pietrus is out for awhile. Magic need you to step up big time. I know you can do it.

Nancy | on 28/11/08

I’m glad to be seeing more of you on the court and on television. As an anesthesiologist, I’m used to working holidays. But athletes are not doctors, so it seems terrible to me to take you away from your family for the sake of entertainment. Maybe American should learn how to entertain themselves on holidays by enjoying the company of their loved ones rather than gathering around the tube. I’d vote for THAT!

Victoria | on 28/11/08

Happy Thanksgiving JJ! Congrats on your win last night.

Vicki | on 28/11/08

Happy Thanksgiving in Orlando! Wish you could have started the game since it was televised in PA and I am one of your biggest fans since your first start at DUKE and I was sad for you not to play!
BUT, keep your faith cause you can sink those 3’s so remember we are cheering you on always!

Marybeth | on 28/11/08

Awesome game Wednesday night in Philly, like everyone else I was on my feet for that final “minute,” but I was definitely one of few that were cheering at the end result. Glad I got to see you play again live, last time was when you were still with Duke & you played against Temple your senior year.

All holidays are a little bittersweet when you can’t be with the ones who mean the most to you. My brother is on his second 12 month tour in Iraq right now & we tend not to make too much of the holidays he’s not with us & celebrate for days when he is to make up for all we missed. Not the same as the original holiday, but better with his company.

J. J.
Just wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving as well. Do you miss the fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway as I do?

You have been playing very well lately. I enjoy watching you play very much. I root for you everytime you are on the floor.

Hope you are able to get more and more playing time.

Take care, and God Bless You!

hey man Happy Thanksgiving and congrats on the win last nite!

Jen | on 27/11/08

Thanks for this JJ! I was born on Thanksgiving in 1978 and somehow I’ve never been too much of a fan of traditional Thanksgiving food. However, I must say that the pumpkin pie comment is right up my alley! Here’s to you and yours. May God continue to bless you in the years to come!
