Q: What happened in the Sixers game when you got ejected? Us fans were kind of left wondering what went down.
JJ: I wish there was video footage on Youtube of my ejection so that anyone curious could see that I didn’t do anything to warrant an ejection. Basically, here’s what happened (and it all happened so quickly that I was in shock as I walked off the court): I boxed out Reggie Evans as one of his teammates shot the ball. The ball goes through the net. Evans starts running up court and after he’s about 10-15 feet away from me he turns and says something inaudible. I still don’t know what he said. I replied, “My bad, Reggie”. That’s it. Next thing I know some ref that’s forty feet away is calling a double technical on Evans and me. I walked over calmly at first and asked him, “How can you give me a technical without knowing what was said? All I said was ‘My bad, Reggie’”. He said that he “didn’t want to hear it,” and turned his back to me. And then I said, “Well that’s stupid”. Next thing I know he tosses me out of the game. It’s the two most bogus technicals I’ve ever gotten in my life. I wasn’t necessarily mad that I got ejected from a game (everyone was joking about it afterwards including the coaches) but I was upset that it was unwarranted.
Q: If you could hangout with any celebrity living or dead who would it be and why?
JJ: That’s a tough question. By “celebrity” I assume you mean a movie star, musician, television personality, etc. My initial reaction would be to hang out with a comedian- preferably Vince Vaughn- because that would probably be the most fun I could have in your hypothetical scenario. However, if you count politicians as celebrities then my top choice would be Abraham Lincoln (and given that Obama has been called a celebrity and poses for People and Us Weekly covers then I think Lincoln qualifies). Lincoln was arguably our greatest president and had to make numerous tough decisions during one of the most tumultuous times in our nation’s history- I would love to just have a chat with him.
Q: What are your thoughts on the move that brought in Rafer, and his play so far?
JJ: Rafer has been great so far. I think it was a great move by Otis to bring him in. He’s a great passer and also has replaced some of the playmaking and scoring we lost when Jameer got hurt.

I check this sight occassionally. It is great to see you adjusting, adapting, and getting some playing time at this level—and doing well. I’m a Duke fan through and through. I loved watching you play there. I loved the swagger, the pride, and that killer 3 pointer from deep. You played with style, intelligence, and guts. No one worked harder for the win. There were lots of great games. Your words as your jersey was raised into the rafters showed that you have class on and off the court. Keep up the good work. Silence the haters, the Duke bashers, and show everyone what Duke fans have known for a long time, that you are a winner.

That sounds like the stupidest tech, ever!!! I don’t understand what would ever make it right to tech somebody, but most of all throw them out if the ref didn’t know what was said, and he obviously did not, that just straight up sucks, I am so sorry that happened. well at least you have a good attitude about it, that’s a quality that i really admire in you! best of luck in the games to come!! peace and love, kestrel

JJ,
From the camera angle on the television, it looked like you said more to the referee than “well that’s stupid” I know you are a pious man, but did you happen to drop any profane language that might have warranted the second technical?

I knew the ejection was nothing. You aren’t that type of player. It just shows what the nba has become: refs have too much control and don’t let the players play. I’ve been really impressed with your play. Hopefully you stay here in Orlando for a long time. One of my favorite highlights of yours is the game I went to vs. the spurs where dwight dunked home the win. You weren’t getting much playing time back then so it was great to see you play at the end of the game and make that lay up.
You are a better defender then you are given credit for. I hate the calls where the opponent bumps into you w/ your arms up and you get a foul call. Just the way it goes. There is no way to defend really if that’s how they are calling it.
Continue the great play JJ and teach your teammate Rashard how to shoot. Maybe show him one of your shooting videos. He has been off lately.

Hey JJ!
I went to the Cavaliers game last night (3-17) and was disappointed that you didn’t play. Don’t worry, I will see you again and you will play. I am ever the optimist. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the hard work you put in and also the fact that you are prepared at a moments notice. By the way, your shots during warm-ups were awesome! One day I hope to meet you and have you sign my Redick shirt.
P.S. I totally would have kissed you last night on “kiss cam.”
