JJ answers questions from fans

Q: JJ, how do you think a “Duke All-Star” NBA team would fare against other NBA teams? C – Brand PF – Boozer SF – Maggette SG – Dunleavy PG – Duhon Bench: Deng, Redick, Jones, Battier, Hill That is an extremely solid NBA team.

JJ: A Duke “All-Star” team would fare quite favorably against NBA competition. When you look at that list of players you see that a lot of Duke players have had great success in the NBA. It makes me proud to represent my old team and university.

Q: How important do you feel homecourt advantage is in basketball? Teams always seem to have much better records at home, so I am curious just what it is about playing at home gives you such an advantage. Thanks JJ!

JJ: Home court is very important and teams generally do play better at home than on the road. The reasons are pretty simple- the home crowd, the familiarity of the arena, sleeping in your own bed the night before the game, napping in your own bed the day of the game, eating schedules are easier to stick to at home. I’m not going to lie- it’s tough being on the road. And winning on the road is tough in this league.

Q: If you knew that you only had one more day to live, who would you spend it with and what would you do?

JJ: Tough question. And a very morbid question. Actually, it’s kind of sickening. But it’s an easy answer. If I knew I only had one day left I would spend it with my family and loved ones. The location wouldn’t matter as long as I was with them.

I would definitely start Grant Hill or Shane Battier over maggette if i was doing an all Duke team, They both are just better team players and bring more to a team plus Grant hill is way better than Maggette

JJ, why didn’t you chose to wear #4 when you started in the NBA? And where did #7 came from?

I bet it is tough playing on the road. It must really be tough on long road trips being away from the comforts of home. Good Luck in the playoffs!

For someone with such an outstanding jump shot, does it bother you that you get so few shot attempts in the NBA? I’m sure you worked hours every day as a kid perfecting your shot, so it’s got to be frustrating to not be able to showcase that skill very often.

I think that a Duke All-Star team would be a great idea. How about them Blue Devils? I am so excited for this team and Coach K. I can’t wait to watch them tomorrow. Your answer for the last question was so great. Congrats to the team for beating the Celtics tonight!
