J.J. ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS

J.J. Redick has enjoyed the finest postseason of his three-year NBA career this spring, becoming a starter at shooting guard for the Orlando Magic. He’s twice set career highS for points (15) and assists (seven) in the postseason.

J.J. is deeply immersed in the Magic’s playoff run these days, but he took time out earlier this week to answer questions from the loyal visitors of redicklive.com.

J.J. welcomes all your questions and the hope here at redicklive.com is to have a weekly Q-and-A segment on the site.

Want to know what J.J.’s pregame routine is or what his favorite NBA city is? Want to know about his favorite memory from Duke or about his regular conversations with Coach K? Just drop us a line here on the site and J.J. will do his best to answer it in a timely fashion.

So away we go with your questions and J.J.’s answers.

===============

Q: Are you still friends with former Duke point guard Greg Paulus and would you have been a better quarterback than him since your family is filled with football players?

J.J.: I still talk to Greg now and again and we’re good friends. But he has a much better arm than me as a quarterback.

===============

Q: Do you ever plan to sell apparel on your website? And where can I buy one of the black, retro Magic jerseys of yours?

J.J.: If you find one first, please let me know because I’d like to have one of those myself.

===============

Q: What type of jeans do you wear and where do you shop for clothes?

J.J.: Wow, (laughs). I wear all kinds of jeans, but my favorite brands are Seven, Citizens of Humanity, John Varvados. I pretty much shop everywhere. You name a designer and I probably have something of theirs.

===============

Q: Do you write songs, sing or play a musical instrument?

J.J.: Nope, none of the above.

===============

Q: Are you single?

J.J.: No!

===============

Q: What did you do to get ejected from Game 2 against the Celtics in the playoffs?

J.J.: (More laughs). I said some words that I shouldn’t have said. I wasn’t trying to disrespect Mr. (Bennett) Salvatore in any way, but I said something that was disrespectful and I apologize. I regretted it almost as soon as it happened.

===============

Q: What are your favorite places to eat in Orlando? And what are the chances that I might bump into you at one of these restaurants?

J.J.: I like the classics, really, and mostly steakhouses like Morton’s and Ruth’s Chris. I’m a big steak guy and I like having steak at least once a week. If you happen to see me at one of those places come and talk to me.

===============

Q: Barring injury, how long do you think you can play in the NBA?

J.J.: I will play as long as my body allows me and as long as somebody out there is willing to pay me. But really it’s about loving this game for me. They will have to tear the jersey off my back.

===============

Q: How long did you live in Cookeville, Tenn., when you were a child?

J.J.: I lived there for the first three years of my life. I don’t have a lot of memories from there. I’ve been back a couple of times and it’s a great town.

===============

Q: I see that Duke fire in your eyes once again. What made your confidence come back?

J.J.: I just think it’s taking advantage of an opportunity with Courtney going down and I knew I had to step up and play well for us to win in the playoffs. Toward the end of the season I went through a little slump, but my confidence is back now.

Thanks for all the questions guys. Keep them coming and we’ll try to get to more and more of them as the playoffs roll on and into the offseason. Thanks for all of your support. — jj

You seem like you’ve come from a good family, and are a good guy. Are you still close with you’re family with all of the traveling, and do you try to stay close with your fans?
