JJ answers Questions From Fans

Q: Hey J.J., besides patience probably, what do you think the biggest lesson you’ve learned in the NBA is?

JJ: Patience is something that I’ve definitely learned over the last three years. Besides that I’d say learning how to be a professional is just as important. Being a professional means you keep your body in shape year round, you’re always ready to play no matter the circumstances, you come early and you stay late. To me, it also means throwing yourself completely into your profession. The truly great players do that- they eat, sleep, and drink basketball. I’ve had to learn that and going into my fourth year I feel I’ve done that.

Q: What are your top 5 songs to warm up to?

JJ: Hmmm- I don’t really listen to a lot of music when I am preparing to play- nor do I really pay attention to what’s playing on the loud speakers. It’s usually whatever hip-hop song is hot at the moment. How about I give you my top five songs I’m listening to right now (some of these songs are a few years old but they’re good)

1. “Wake Up”- Arcade Fire
2. “Arizona”- Kings of Leon
3. “The Fixer”- Pearl Jam
4. “Spiralling”- Keane
5. “Forever”- Drake and a cast of characters

Q: Who are your picks to win it all in the NFL and for college football?

JJ: I’ve been watching a lot of football games- September is a good month for me to watch football because I usually don’t work on the weekends. In the NFL my pick to win it all is the Indianapolis Colts. No reason why. I just think they’re going to win it. In college my pick to win it all is Alabama. They completed dominated Va Tech and I’m hoping for an SEC championship game of Alabama vs. Florida to see who goes to the National Championship.

Being in the NBA, you are able to partake in a lot of charity related activities. What is your favorite, and why? :)

hey jj! The start of the NBA season is getting closer and closer, i cannot wait till you get out there and do what you do best. Patience is very prevalent in you’re game, and this year its going to pay off i am almost 100% certain of that. I like the song choice…Kings if Leon are amazing! well best of luck this season can’t wait till the start of the season! peace and love always…kestrel

JJ. I’m excited someone finally sees how awesome my Tide are. Go Alabama.I think Florida vs. Alabama would be a great game. I think the National Championship will be Va Tech vs Alabama, which would be an awesome rematch. Kings of leon are amazing, but only the newer stuff. Great Job in your last game, you really came through when your team needed you. Good luck for the rest of the season

I’ve been sick all week with the flu during my second month of being between jobs. In spite of all that, the boxscore of the Magic-Heat game got this ol’ dog’s tail wagging!! 13 pts. in 20 min. YES!! Only 1 turnover amidst a slew plaguing the team. AWESOME!! 2 blocks. 2 BLOCKS??!! Man, I wish this game was televised!! Keep up the good work, JJ!!

If you want a sermon, Gal 6:9—“Be not weary of good doing for in due season you shall reap if you faint not.” I BELIEVE that that “due season” is NOW. The more important thing is “Do you?” I BELIEVE that the your stats in the Heat game is the first fruits of that due season. Like all first fruits, they should be tithed to the Lord. (That’s why God approved of Abel’s sacrifice but not Cain’s.) Recognize God working through you helped achieve those stats and downplay your own efforts. Remember Phil. 4:13—“I can do all things THROUGH CHRIST who strengthens and powers me.” Keep on ignoring the bad comments of the world and keep your eyes on the goal of winning the race for the Lord. Don’t let them steal your joy after every victory!!
