Questions of the week

Q: Who are your favorite movie characters of all time? (Vince Vaughn is only allowed on once)

A: This is one of my favorite questions I’ve been asked. I’m going
to list these in descending order:

5- Ron Burgandy- Anchorman. Ron provided America with some of the
most memorable movie quotes known to man. Classic lines like, “milk
was a bad choice”, have been repeated non-stop across high school and
college campuses. Congrats to Ron for coming in at number 5. Thanks
for stopping by. But mostly, stay classy.

4- Jimmy Chitwood- Hoosiers. One of my favorite movie scenes ever was
when Jimmy was shooting on the outdoor dirt court and Coach Norman
Dale came out to tell him “I don’t give a damn if you play or not.”
Or whatever the quote was. Jimmy hits like 15 shots in a row. As
soon as Coach Dale leaves he misses. Classic. Jimmy’s buzzer beater
to win the Indiana State Championship provided inspiration to me as a
young boy.

3- Tristan Ludlow- Legends of the Fall. This movie is in my top five
ever and Tristan was my favorite character. I liked him for his
independent spirit, his rebel attitude, and his warrior heart. But I
most identified with him because of the fatherly bond he had with Col.
William Ludlow. Plus Brad Pitt had sweet hair in this film.

2- Anton Chigurh- No Country For Old Men. Yes, he is a bad guy.
Yes, his character represents evil. But what a unique character. From his weird haircut to the funny way he talks- Chigurh is one of
the most memorable movie characters in recent history. He is the
ultimate bad-ass.

1- “Double Down” Trent Walker- Swingers. My favorite movie ever.
Every time I watch this movie it gets funnier and Trent gets more and
more ridiculous. From “Who’s the big winner? Mikey’s the big winner”
to “It’s not so much me as it is Roenick. He’s just really good”, his
quotes are priceless. Absolutely priceless.

Q: How did you feel when you heard about Brett Favre retiring?

A: I was sad when Brett Favre announced his retirement. But at the
same time, I think he did the right thing. He went out a winner and
at the top of his game. He had one of his best seasons this year-
guiding a team that many thought wouldn’t make the playoffs to the #2
seed in the NFC. Not only that, he shut his critics up that said he
was “too old” or “washed up.” Brett will always be a champion and a
warrior in my book. He’s the best there ever was.

Q: If you could ask all your fans one question what would it be?

A: Here’s a question I’d like all my fans to answer- what is the one
question you’ve been wanting to ask me? Haha.

Yes, I’m interested in updates!

I saw you lose to FSU at FSU. How did it feel to have the court rushed, twice? I am a magic supporter and subsequently love you because of that, my question is in jest.

Whats up J.J. ! First off, I think this website is a great idea and it allows me to get a better understanding of my favorite player. I have been watching you play since the McDonalds All – American Game. Of the 4 years you have played at Duke, I can honestly say I probably didn’t miss more than 15 games of your college career (15 games due to probably not being on TV). Anyways, my question for you is…....whats the greatest jumper you hit in your college career. One of my favorites was during your freshman year against NC State in the ACC Tournament during the later part of the second half. You were trailing the play and I believe Duhon threw you a pass and you hit a bomb from the top of the which changed the momentum of the game…...thats one of my favorites. So what is one of your favorite shots?

Thanks JJ

Audrey | on 27/3/08

JJ! I’ve been watching you since your first year at Duke. I was close to playing your sis this year during basketball season. My team plays in the same region. Good luck and I’m always rooting for you!

saaallayy | on 26/3/08

I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUU

tim | on 26/3/08

hey JJ, i wish your orlando coach would start you already! enough is enough… it’s time to let the lightning out of the bottle, its time for you to go off in the nba and own it, like you did with the ncaa. The only way you can be stopped is with a bull headed coach that for some reason keeps you on the bench. I wish your agent could get you traded here to the Chicago Bulls, we need a deadly shooting guard. Much respect JJ, keep faith….because soon enough you will get your chance to shine.

Brian | on 25/3/08

JJ, I wish I was you. Actually I like me, but you have the most perfect shot that I want. You inspire me. Stay strong with the weak management in Orlando that isn’t giving you the time you deserve. Peace.

enter your name here.. Jenna | on 24/3/08

AY JJ!! Just wanted to tell you that I miss watching you play for Duke. They definately needed you on Saturday thats for sure. They couldnt knock down a 3 to save their lives. And also that I rented the movie SWINGERS and it was money! Vince Vaughn was money in the film. I’ve gotta hand it to you, you have some taste in movies.

Casie | on 23/3/08

Your an amazing player, and are going to do AMAZING things in your life, ( not that you havent already).. Good luck in your nba career….

[keep up the great work-ur amazing!]

Meredith | on 22/3/08

What kind of milk do you drink (i.e. whole, skim, organic, raw/unpasteurized)?

Also, on a totally different note, you seem to talk about your relationship with God fairly often. Would you be willing to share your personal experience of how you came to know Christ as your Savior?

Thanks so much for your time. Have a wonderful Easter.

kestrel | on 22/3/08

I just watched swingers last night! It was the best ever! I’m still quoting lines from last night I have a question for you what season out of the year are you most like? have a great week and stay classy love and peace always kestrel (sorry if the qestion is weird)

diana | on 22/3/08

what are your top 5 songs?

Jon | on 21/3/08

You were the bomb at Duke, but whenever i watch the magic play your never out there. Do they TRY to lose??

becca | on 20/3/08

im going to end up asking you more than one question, and they will probabaly be a little scattered. sorry. do you wish you were still playing under the coaching of coach k? what do you think about UNC upseting duke on demarcus nelson’s senior night? do you think that duke will make it far in the NCAA tournament?

thanks for answering people’s questions. you’re one of my all time favorite basketball players. not because you broke records and was a great player at duke, but because you put your heart into the game and you never give up when things don’t go well. i admire that.

<33 becca

Bee | on 20/3/08

way to go keep playing!!!!!!!!!!!!! ur amazing!

diana | on 20/3/08

umm… WILL YOU MARRY ME???????????hahaha your gorgeous<<333! If you were stranded on an island what would be the 5 things you couldnt live without? (besides the basics)

Claire | on 19/3/08

When if at all will you be at Duke this summer?
Do you get annoyed by fans coming up and asking for autographs and pictures?
What do you think about Tyler Hansbrough getting closer to your ACC scoring record? If he broke it, would you be there to present the game ball?

sorry, that’s more than one…but i just got flowing.

thanks a ton for taking time out of your hectic schedule for all of us. It is greatly appreciated!

Amber | on 19/3/08

Have you ever considered coming back to Duke to coach one day? I think it would be great one day to look on the bench and see even more past Blue Devils coaching when wojo, coach dawkins, and coach collins are done which probably won’t be for while…haha.I know you’re focusing on your career in the NBA right now, but i was just wondering if you had ever thought about it for way down the road. =]

pb | on 19/3/08

i like chris’ question about top 5 silly/absurd things written about you. but my own question would be what is your favorite memory that doesn’t involve sports?
hope all is well with your brother and you and your family.
take care. go duke!!

Korri | on 19/3/08

You mentioned that your brother was having surgery, how did it go? Is he still in the hospital and is all well? Our thoughts and prayers are still with him. Korri

shell | on 19/3/08

Ok, lunchtime poll topic — You win five million dollars from the Publisher’s Sweepstakes, and the same day that that big Ed guy gives you the check, aliens land on the earth and say they’re going to blow up the world in two days. What do you do? (nod to Heathers)

David | on 19/3/08

What are your workouts like? I need some help on getting started, and your a work-horse in the gym. I thought hearing it from you would be much needed and very appreciated. Thanks bro! One Love.

Ben | on 19/3/08

What ACC school beside’s Duke had the hottest girls?

Duke all the way | on 19/3/08

How far do you think Duke can go in the NCAA tournament?

Nancye | on 19/3/08

Excellent choice in “Legends of the Fall”. Great movie and beautiful scenary. If ever there was a movie character with passion, emotion, and bravery, it was Tristan. In my book, he married the right girl! ha

Zach | on 18/3/08

When you come to Milwaukee, will you stay to sign autographs?

Ciera | on 18/3/08

Nice characters. I thought of you right away when I heard Favre was retiring. LOL at the last answer. You’re such a dork!

Amber | on 18/3/08

Do you (or would you) ever do public appearances at elementary schools outside of Florida?

Mandie | on 18/3/08

Somehow I dont think that question counts, you cant answer a question by asking another question…just sayin.

Chris | on 18/3/08

OK – here’s my question for you (and it’s along your top 5 theme) – What are the Top 5 things you’ve heard or read about yourself that are most silly/ wrong/ exaggerated or downright absurd?

(Sending some prayers and good wishes your brother’s way.)

Jeremy (Durham, NC) | on 18/3/08

Does it get frustrating when you see your team win and/or lose by a margin of fifteen or twenty points, but you are still not given the opportunity to show them what we all know you have? which is that unstoppable drive and motivation… If asked would u ever enter the NBA’s 3-Point Shootout, even though you know that it would be a piece of cake for you to win?

Jeff | on 18/3/08

If they were to ever film the J.J. Redick story, who would you want to portray you?

diana | on 18/3/08

oh wait i have another question for you. On my b-day august 7 would you come to PA and challenge me to a game of basketball or golf????????????????
