July 3

I won’t be around a computer tomorrow but I wanted to wish everyone a very happy 4th of July! Despite all the troubles our country faces, (rising gas prices, slumping housing sector, bear market, etc.) one can’t help but appreciate how great this country is and how lucky we are to be a part of this nation. So to all, happy Independence Day!

Just to give you guys a quick update on my activities- workouts are still going very well. My body has “turned the corner” and the initial soreness I experienced the first few weeks has waned and I’ve been able to make some marked improvement in my strength and conditioning. In spite of the personal disappointments I’ve had in my performance my first two seasons in the league, I still have faith that hard work and belief do pay off. I’ve been up here in Durham since June 1 working out. The people at Duke have been very gracious in their time- which has allowed me to try and improve my body and my game. I’ve taken full advantage of the beautiful practice facility that was completed last winter. I wish that I had the use of this facility during my four years at Duke. Although I’ve enjoyed my time at Duke, I’m anxious to return to Orlando and get some work done down there.

A few of you have posted comments on this website asking me, “Why are you so sure you will be in Orlando next year?” When I wrote a few weeks ago that I was “100%” sure I would play for the Magic next year, I was basing that statement on the conversations I had with Otis and Stan during my exit interviews at the end of the season. Obviously, I realize that things can change quickly but from what I was told I expect to be in a Magic uniform come October 1.

Everyone have a safe Fourth of July and enjoy the weekend.

Yes, I’m interested in updates!

JJ….you are by far the greatest shooter in the league…i know this…and that is why you have got to come to Cleveland. You can play next to the best player in the league in Lebron…he kicks it out all the time to ppl open for the three ball…PLEASE COME TO CLEVELAND...tell Otis and Stan you want out…and be like..i really wanna go to Cleveland…we got some ppl that will fit in at Orlando….

Have a great 4th of July and all your fans are excited about next year considering all the hard work that you have put in. Have a great rest of summer!

I know that when you are given the playing time you deserve, you will be even better than the amazing player that you were at DUKE.
No matter what team you play for you are still the most inspiring and talented player there is. I believe that you can achieve greatness and i know that you will be amazing in the NBA. Players like you don’t come along very often and i’m just greatful that i am given the opportunity to watch you play.

Love, Kate

How long are you staying at duke!? I’m coming back down on the 13th, and it would be incredible if I were to see you. What do you think about Chris Duhon signing with the magic? Great to be reunited with a former teammate. What are your thoughts on DeMarcus not being drafted, and Josh being traded to Ind?

I also saw some footage of you scrimmaging with Kenny Boynton, Greg Paulus, Jay Williams, the Plumlees, Kyle Singler, and Nolan Smith it looked like. Awesome! Too many of my favorites to be real.
