Q: I’ve heard about possibly starting to give fines and technical fouls to players for flopping in the NBA. In soccer you get a yellow card for it. How prevalent do you think flopping is in the NBA and what should be done to crack down on it?
A: Look, in my opinion, flopping is part of the game and should not be penalized in any way, shape, or form. Determining if someone “flopped” is a subjective process so how can you fine a player because someone thinks they “flopped”? It doesn’t make sense to me. Not only that, but I don’t think flopping is prevalent. It happens here and there but it shouldn’t be a concern.
Q: Who do you plan to vote for in the presidential election?
A: In general, I’m not a very “political” person. That doesn’t mean I’m not opinionated or that I’m not interested in world issues- I just try not get caught up in politics. I have not yet decided who I’m going to vote for in November- but I will make an informed decision
when the time comes.
Q: Do you read or subscribe to any magazines?
A: I subscribe to Golf Digest, ESPN the Magazine, GQ, Details, and Esquire. I keep every issue of GQ, Details, and Esquire- those are my favorite magazines and I look forward to their arrival every month. I also am a sucker for celebrity gossip and as much as it pains me to admit it – I read Us Weekly.

I see where you’re coming from on flopping but I have to disagree. If you think about it, all of refereeing is subjective. Its the same in every sport, each call made depends on what the ref saw from his/her angle so calling a flop is no different than calling a charge. Flopping is a part of basketball just like diving is a part of hockey but as a fan I believe really obvious flops or dives take away from the integrity of the game. I think fines or technical fouls would be excessive but I would support making it a regular foul.
Just my 2 cents- Have a great season!

JJ, Im glad to see that you wont bend your true self in order to produce a “distinguished, publicly acceptable” image. Hearing vices and quirks make people seem all that more real and honestly, helps give you a down to earth vibe. I like it. Im a sucker for celebrity gossip too, most are. And it’s very refreshing to see you fight for yourself instead of giving excuses. People that judge others in general but definitely for small insignificant PERSONAL details really.. what was it, oh yes. “strikes me to the core.” Rock on JJ!

I too will read US Weekly from time to time, and I don’t see the big deal about that. Wow JJ, I’m surprised to responded to “ramseys” comment. I also don’t see how it could “strike you to the core” Ramsey. It’s not a big deal. He’s a grown man, and he can read what he wants. This Q & A is pretty similar to something you would find in a magazine as well.

I also think that “flopping” should not be penalized it is part of the game and it’s not like it happens all the time. I love Espn the mag. I can’t wait to get one with you on the cover!! peace and love kestrel

Ramsey, sorry to “strike you to the core”, friend. I guess wasting five minutes of my day once every two weeks to read Us Weekly makes me an idiot. I think you need to relax, friend. And I could be mistaken here, but not all actors are “bad actors” as you say.
This may be a bad comparison, but you reading my blog and checking my website for new Q and A’s is pretty darn similar to someone reading a celebrity gossip magazine. I just finished a Norman Mailer novel, maybe you should go pick up a book, friend.

No Sports Illustrated for your subscription? Happen to be a sucker for Us Weekly as well as People.

You are right! You are a sucker if you are even a little interested in celebrity gossip. Face it. They are actors (bad actors at that) and you are the reason why there is a waste of paper called the Us Weekly. Instead of reading that pick up a novel instead. Sorry Redick but that struck me to the core.

Love your magazine choices…...they make you sound so distinguished…...that was until you made the Us Weekly comment….HAHA!!
