Hey there, hope all is well out there with you guys. I just returned from a week at the beach with my family in South Carolina. We had quite a nice time- it was the first time the whole family has been together since the birth of my niece (who by the way is growing daily and is starting to laugh and smile). It was a nice break for me- after two months of training I needed a week to let my body relax (although I did lift and run during the week it wasn’t as high intensity as I’ve been doing). I spent some time on the beach and got a tan. I also got to spend some time in downtown Charleston which is a pretty cool spot- we were shopping Thursday afternoon and my sister walked right by Sophia Bush. I was a few blocks away with my pops but I was upset I missed my chance to meet her! Ha, actually I don’t even know what I would have said to her. But she is fantastic. The week before South Carolina I took a trip out West and spent a couple days in Vegas before heading to LA to workout for a few days. Obviously, I’ve done a good amount of traveling this summer but it’s been a good summer because I’ve gotten everything I need to get done during the week and been able to spend time with family and friends on the weekends. As intense as the NBA season is, it’s important to have a good balance during the offseason. I’m back in Orlando now and ready to start another week at the gym.
Most of you know by now that I’m a huge Brett Favre fan and I just want to comment on his situation: I’m glad it’s resolved. Both sides (the Packers organization and Favre’s camp) pointed fingers at each other and things got a little hectic but it’s good that a resolution was reached. The bottom line is that the past month shouldn’t in any way overshadow the amazing feats and effort put forth by Favre for the Packers and the fans of Green Bay over the last decade and a half. However, I may become a New York Jets fan as long as Favre is the QB haha. I’m just as fickle as the next sports fan!
However, there are certain things that I’m not fickle about and one of them is the Red Sox. Although, they traded away my favorite baseball player ever I’m still a Sox fan! And no I won’t root for the Dodgers but I will always pull for Manny.
While I was at the beach I finished a couple of books and one of them was very inspirational to me. I don’t how many of you have seen the youtube clip of Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture but it’s definitely worth watching if you have an hour. Pausch was diagnosed with terminal cancer and asked to give a final lecture at Carnegie Mellon. His book, aptly titled The Last Lecture, is based on his actual lecture and goes into greater detail about his kids and his wife. It’s an incredible story and one that I read in a little over two hours. Next time you’re at Barnes and Noble, pick up The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.
Not much going on with the Magic right now. Things have been quiet the last couple weeks and don’t know what other moves Otis might make. So everyone’s attention should be turned to the Olympics- I’m excited to watch “The Redeem Team” go for the Gold. I know Coach K will have those guys prepared. Also, Michael Phelps may or may not be superhuman and I’ll definitely be watching to see how many Gold medals he can nab.
Aight, y’all be good. GO USA!

I find it amusing that you would not know what to say if you were to actually meet Sophia Bush. Srsly JJ, do you have any idea how many ppl here feel the exact same way about meeting you?!
I personally was in the position to speak to you once in Chicago and just couldn’t. I couldn’t. Something really idiotic would have come out of my mouth. I love that you can be just as starstruck as the rest of us.

Where in South Carolina did you vacation? Considering it was near Chaleston I’m guessing Kiawah or Hilton Head. My family and I have been going to Kiawah every summer for over 10 years, and I’m kicking myself because I was supposed to go down for the past week and I always spend time in Charleston. Kiawah in my opinion is 100 times better than Hilton Head, and it is one of the best golf resorts in the world so it sounds like the place for you. I know plenty of great places to eat down there, so hopefully you got to have some great southern cooking.
