Congratulations Abby!
Although I’ve known for a week and I have told her congratulations in person, I want to say congrats to my little sister, Abby, on committing to play basketball for the Virginia Tech Hokies. In case you want to read more, here’s an article on her commitment. With her commitment that means that all five of my parents’ kids got full Division 1 athletic scholarships coming out of high school. Not bad at all. Abby also has a knee injury and is having surgery later this week- please pray for a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
In other news, I had braces put on my teeth today. I know, I’m 24 years old and I probably should have gotten braces 12 years ago but it’s never too late to get straight teeth. I just got braces (I got the “clear” ones but let’s be honest- they’re not that clear) on my top teeth and I only have to have them on for a year (I’ll wear Invisalign on my bottom teeth for the last 6 months). I’ll sacrifice now in hopes for a better smile down the road. Hopefully, a year from now my top teeth will look a lot better than this . It’s funny, but I’m willing to admit that I’ve always been a little self-conscious of my teeth.
Aight, back to watching the Olympics! Phelps goes for his 3rd Gold Medal about 10 minutes from now so I’m going to get off this dang computer.

there’s no shame in having braces as an adult…i got a full set at 22… once you have them for awhile you will naturally develop a proficiency for using your tongue in a vacuum like manner to remove particles from them….

I hope your sis does well & congrats to your parents! I understand the teeth thing…ive had top metal braces for about 3 months and i get bottom braces on the 20th…ugh…im really rootin for Phelps! : )) peace.

JJ… I think your smile is great! I actually smiled myself when I started watching the video you posted of your workout in NC this past summer. Glad to see you’re balancing B-Ball & life in general… work can definitely become stressful.
I am looking forward to the Fall… I am praying you get your chance and I am there to watch it!

Congrats to abby!! You are part of one talented family! I will pray for Abby I know how much stress is involved with waiting to see how a loved one will come out of surgery my dad tore his ACL MCL patella and Meniscus he came out fine and I’m sure Abby will to. hey man its KC. Hope all is well. Wanted to let you know that I will be in the operating room with abby tomorrow. I actually supply the surgeons with the implants that are going to be placed in her knee. She is going to do fine, and she is in good hands with her surgeon…no worries man. Congratulations to Abby. I’m sure my dad will be very happy to hear that. As much as he likes Duke and Coach K, he’s a VT fan. Not really sure why, but he is. I will definitely be praying that God will guide the surgeons and give her a speedy recovery. By the way, what’s the update on David. I know his surgery was quite a while ago, but how is he doing now?
I know how you feel about the braces, I’m 20 and DESPERATELY need them, unfortunately, I can’t afford them. Oh well, there are worse things in life than crooked teeth I suppose.
Congratulations to Michael as well, on breaking the record for most Olympic Gold Metals!

Congrats to Abby! I’ll be praying for her recovery. I am considering getting the Invisalign braces, and was wondering do they hurt as much as metal braces? I bet you look just fine in them. You could pull anything off. GO USA!

Congrats about your sister, that’s awesome!!!! Eh, don’t worry about the braces. I had them when I was in 2nd grade and I definitely need to get them again, and I’m now 22. So, you’re not alone. haha
I’m a HUGE Michael Phelps fan and he’s definitely going to kill it this year!!!!!!! I’m totally syked!!!!!

Hey, JJ! It’s great to hear that your sister is going to be playing for Virginia Tech. That’s really awesome! Also, I hope that the operation will go well and she will have a good recovery. That’s cool that you got braces! You should post a picture. I really wanna see them haha! My sister had the “clear” braces a couple years ago. Haha I always thought your smile was heart-melting :) . I saw Michael Phelps get his 3rd gold yesterday. He was so far ahead of everyone in that race. Well, I hope you’re doing amazing and good luck with your new braces! I love you.

It is not that bad to have braces, and it is true they will make your smile better. However, look at the best part- you only have to have them on for a year. I got my braces when I was 16. Now I’m 22 years old and just got them off in April. It was a great birthday present! Anyhoo, congrats to Abby on VT, she’ll be great!

JJ! so glad to hear about your sister committing. That is so sweet. I hope her surgery goes well, I just had surgery and know how much it sucks. Not gunna lie… glad you got braces… cause once your teeth are perfect,,, you will be flawless. So psyched about Phelps too. I love that you love him.
